DOT Trick or Streets — Sugar Painting for Kids
Lina Liu Artist Group was invited by the NYC Department of Transportation to bring the traditional Chinese sugar painting art to 118-01 190th St, Jamaica, NY as part of the Trick or Streets celebration!

Children watched with wide eyes and happy smiles as our artist turned melted sugar into beautiful candy artworks — from pumpkins and ghosts to butterflies and dragons. The event created a joyful Halloween afternoon filled with laughter, colors, and sweet cultural discovery.

We’re grateful to NYC DOT for supporting community art programs that bring families together and inspire creativity on New York’s streets.

We were honored to be invited by the Chinatown Business Improvement District (BID) and Explore Chinatown to perform at their Mid-Autumn Open Streets celebration.
The Lina Liu Artist Group brought Pell Street to life with a spectacular showcase of traditional Chinese performances, including Lion Dance, Sichuan Face-Changing, and Chinese Acrobatics. The vibrant energy, rhythmic drums, and dazzling costumes drew a large, enthusiastic crowd — filling Chinatown with excitement, applause, and smiles from families and visitors of all ages.

Many attendees expressed how amazed they were by the artistry and cultural richness of the performance, calling it “one of the most exciting moments of the festival.” The entire neighborhood felt alive with celebration, symbolizing unity, happiness, and cultural pride.

This free, family-friendly event not only highlighted the beauty of Chinese performing arts but also strengthened community connections through creativity and shared joy.

The Lina Liu Artist Group was thrilled to join this year’s NYC Department of Transportation Summer Streets, one of New York City’s most vibrant and beloved community programs.

Our team brought a lively 45-minute performance to Plaza de las Americas, featuring dazzling Chinese acrobatics, ribbon dance, and umbrella balancing acts, creating a joyful celebration for families, neighbors, and visitors along Broadway.

The audience’s energy was incredible — people stopped, cheered, and took videos as traditional Chinese artistry lit up the open street. Many attendees said our performance made the day “unforgettable,” filling the space with color, culture, and happiness.

What a joyful day of cultural sharing!
Our team from Lina Liu Artist Group brought the magic of Traditional Chinese Acrobatics to the Children’s Museum of Manhattan, filling the space with laughter, wonder, and discovery.
Children and families experienced the elegance of umbrella-balancing, the excitement of plate-spinning, and the artistry passed down through generations.
